ABOUT MAW Our Stories Pioneer Village Native Americans Pioneer Museum

Pushroot Living History Village
A collection of historic buildings from the regions past will provide space for living history demonstrations and exhibits that will supplement exhibits in the Pioneer Museum.
The Museum of the American West feels an obligation to help preserve and utilize for educational purposes selected structures in addition to smaller artifacts that one expects in a museum setting.
Many of these buildings have been restored to their near-original condition and there are ongoing restoration projects. The Pioneer Museum has a lease agreement with MAW and will be exhibiting many of their artifacts in the setting where one would have found them a century or more past.
Eventually, this frontier village will consist of about two dozen major structures with additional outbuildings, etc., located on both sides of Squaw Creek and designed to appear similar to the original main street of Pushroot, which was Lander’s first name
